I-pad, Kindle or...?

“Great Question” (2points)

It’s been long-awaited, the I-pad – and now it’s here. My question is to those who have a Kindle or another reader – would you upgrade yours to the i-pad for a reasonable price (a new one is $500)?

Also, what will the next gadget/breakthrough be? Are you waiting for the next one? What features are you looking for especially? Here’s a link for those who haven’t seen it yet: http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…....................................markjhfgd. More padding for the landfill.

Hey! You changed the scope of your question entirely. Here’s my answer to your new question:

$500?! Do you know how many actual books I could buy with that??? Or, I could borrow a ton of books from a library, and fly across the Pacific Ocean to any state on the West coast or Canada. OR! I could buy two big flat screens, a new PC, or a new laptop. I am not a fan of any gadget that isn’t multi-purpose, kitchen or otherwise.

The iPad will never fully replace the Microsoft Tampon.

looks like a neat toy, but it’s definitely not on my must-have list. $500 only gives you 16GB storage, an extra $130 for a 3G model, no external USB, no camera and no flash player support. It’s only 1.5 pounds but some have said it’s just like a big iPhone, and if you’re going to be carrying it around and using it for long periods of time it gets very stressful on the hands and wrists. On the positive side, you can feel like Data from Star Trek.

I think it really depends on the apps that are developed for it. There might be a game-changer somewhere in there.

I’m still gonna go for the Kindle. The whole point of the Kindle is the e-ink technology, which is what makes it so much like reading a paper book. I don’t need another bright screen to stare at.

I’m digging the iPad (being an Apple guy and all) but I’ll probably wait about a year before buying it.

If it supports VoiP, I’d be inclined to get the 3G model and ditch my iPhone (there’s no way I’d pay for both).
