Celexa will only give you energy inasmuch as it helps depression (if this is what is causing the lack of energy). Effexor tends to give people more energy as an antidepressant because it increases Norepinephrine along with Serotonin.
If you are not depressed, check the following:
1. Are you anemic?
2. Are you drinking alcohol/using drugs? These significantly impact your body’s ability to use the energy it has to feel healthy.
3. Are you getting enough sleep? Most people need 7.5 hours – even if they think they don’t.
4. Do you need vitamins? Our diets aren’t always able to supply us with the vitamins we need. Try some B Complex 100 daily. That helps with energy because vitamins are cofactors needed for proper metabolism.
5. Do you exercise regularly? When you do moderate amounts of exercise regularly, you body puts away more energy in the form of glycogen in your muscles and liver so that it’s available when you need it.
6. Are you anxious or under constant levels of stress? When we have stress or anxiety, our muscles carry more tension than in a relaxed state. This results in tight, or sore muscles and a sense of exhaustion by the end of the day. Exercise and daily relaxation/meditation helps with this. Also consider that anxiety and constant stress lower our immune system and make us more susceptible to viral infections (like colds) which use up our body’s resources as well.
