Okay, general idea: with machines over 4 gb of Ram, x64 will run better. With machines under 4 gigs, you will notice pretty much no difference, except x64 can have some issues with drivers, as not all of them are written for x64, so I’d suggest x86 (which is 32 bit, what you’re currently running). If you aren’t sure how much ram you have, i’d suggest the x84.
Beyond that, you do have to determine if your computer can run x64 or not, if you want to, and this depends on processor. Follow these directions:
” To run a 64-bit version of Windows, your computer must have a 64-bit-capable processor. If you are unsure whether your processor is 64-bit-capable, do the following:
1. Open Performance Information and Tools by clicking the Start buttonWindows, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Performance Information and Tools, and then, in the list of results, click Performance Information and Tools.
2. Click View and print detailed performance and system information. ”
In the window that appears should be helpful entry that says : “64-bit capable” and then either ‘yes’ or ‘no’. rather self explanatory.
