I'm ditching the Snowpocalypse for Vegas. What should I see and do while I'm there?

This’ll be my first time in Vegas. I’m over 21, female, and not particularly into gambling. I already know I’m going to see Cirque du Soleil’s Mystere; might have to catch “O” and maybe Zumanity while I’m there, too. And the Blue Man Group. And I know I have to go by Circus Circus, for Fear and Loathing. What else should I do?

Go to the clubs girl. They’re awesome. Club jet at the mirage is pretty cool

If you want good food and some people watching, eat on the Strip-side patio at Mon Ami Gabi just inside Paris. Great food.

If you go to the dolphin exhibit at (????- it might be part of Siegfried and Roy’s tiger exhibit) the dolphins will respond to you if you hang out at the first underwater window (the round one). It’s pretty cool.

Slots of Fun south of Circus Circus is great for cheap gambling. I always get a decent payout at their Wheel of Fortune machines.

Is the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton still open? That was pretty cool.

Ah nevermind

Oh, Rehab at the Hard Rock is a big scene. It’s their Sunday pool scene.

The IMAX at the Palms is supposedly 7 stories tall. It’s a fucking amazing film experience.

@Dr_Dredd Nope, they closed it last year.

If Circus Circus is still there, play the 50 cent slot machines. you will win. play one and two coins at a time. alternate back and forth between one and two coins. you have to confuse the onboard computer. it works.

When are you planning to be there? What are your interests? For example, it looks like there is a Steampunk Ball later next month that I would probably check out.

Vegas isn’t just about casinos and shows. Visit Valley of Fire State Park or Red Rock Canyon for some natural beauty.

I read that the new Star Trek experience is supposed to open in the Spring of 2010 in the Neonopolis mall, along with the Future Museum.

Yay! There will be another Star Trek experience. I really enjoyed that.

Aw man. I should have gone to the Star Trek experience when I was there a couple of months ago.

You can see the Lions at MGM, and then check out the facade of New York New York across the street, which if you are familiar with NY is kind of neat. If you like roller coaster the one inside of NY NY is supposed to be good, but I have not been on it. Also at MGM we had a lot of fun at Studio 54, the music was perfect for us, we are in our early 40’s, love to dance, and were very into dance clubs when we were young. If you want something more she she I think Tao is the hottest spot. Also in MGM there is a very good chinese/Japanese restaurant right near/on the casino floor.

I liked the shopping inside of Caesars best. I saw Seinfeld at caesars when I was there, he was very funny; not sure if he is still playing. By the way RAO at Caesars, an Italian restaurant is fantastic if you like southern Italian. Service was excellent.

Someone told me there is some sort of car museum that I missed that is very good also, I guess you could google it if you are interested in cars.

The conservatory in Bellagio is nice to walk through, and the Venetian is kind of neat to experience. The shopping level has people on gondola’s like Venice.

The new Elvis Cirque is opening, or might have opened already at Aria.

Valley of fire is good to visit if you are into natural beauty, as someone suggested above. It is like being on another planet.

I really enjoyed the Hoover Damn, traffic getting to the Damn is a bitch, be aware, but once there we did not have to stand in line for more than 5 minutes.

The car collection is at Imperial Palace, and it is pretty cool.

The Forum Shops at Ceasars Palace are great if you like shopping.
Mystere IS the best Cirque show!
Where will you be staying?

YARNLADY's avatar

Is the “Blue Man Group” still showing? I enjoyed that a lot.

Judi's avatar

@YARNLADY; I liked it to, but have found people either love it or hate it. No one is in the middle.

YARNLADY's avatar

@Judi The Blue Man Group has several different shows, so it isn’t surprising that people would be split. Personally, I don’t enjoy the Cirque Du Soleil type shows either, so I can understand that there are differences in what we enjoy.

Judi's avatar

When I was at Blue Man I reveled in it. I loved it. I was wishing my grand kids were with me. :-)

Thanks, everyone! We just got here last night; staying for a week at the Jockey Club. We’re at Mon Ami Gabi right now for lunch. Going to the Venetian tonight for the Blue Men. I’ll keep you updated!

I hope you love blue man. It’s very experiencal. (Is that a word?)
