If politics were just about facts, it would be easy. Find out the right facts, make your decisions based on them, and repeat as needed.
If politics were just about people, it would be harder, but still not so bad. Find the right psychological salve, the right marketing campaign, or the right bribe, and apply liberally to the population.
But it’s not. It’s about both. You have to balance, apparently, true facts and feel-good fuzzies in a way that everyone (or at least a majority) can support, and that no one outright despises. Good luck with that one! The more inter-relationships there are between facts, fallacies, people, agendas, interests, business, etc., the more complex they become. It’s like an ecosystem – what’s good for one interest is usually bad for another interest. Which interest wins? That’s politics – deciding who wins when every win is a loss somewhere else.
