Having a drunken discussion with friends about tipping waiters and busboys and the conversation got into how much service people make in Europe since supposedly you don’t tip in Europe. So, anyone know how much a typical waiter make in the old world?

I don’t know what they make but I know they make at least the minimum wage; unlike waiters and waitresses her who are paid shit and have to rely on tips to make up the difference.

In Europe, it is not customary to tip waiters. They usually earn minimum wage and do not expect/ rely on tips.

Minimum wage in the UK is £5.80 per hour which, given the higher cost of living in Europe compared with the US, is really not a decent living wage unless you’re still living with your parents. I usually leave a tip of about 10% for waiting staff (but not in pubs or fast-food places).
