I don’t believe I’m the only affected by this irritating phenomenon, either. What can I do about it?

Turn off your alarm.

:-) I believe it’s some kind of cosmic alarm.

I know why I do!

Maybe in a former life you were a lycanthrope.3:00 a.m feeding time.

I wish you would stop. Now I know why I wake up at 3am.

It is a result of operant conditioning, and it can be undone using the same principles. You need to identify the original conditioned stimulus.

It’s that drink you had at supper.
When warring, the Indians, (Native Americans), would drink a lot of water the night before an early raid. It acted like an natural early morning wake-up call.

Because that’s “the witching hour”.

@worriedguy has my answer. Gotta pee.
That and the cosmic alarm thing.

Do you drink coffee at night? no coffee here after 730 pm. your biological clock is tuned to this time for some reason. try going to bed a little later and see if this makes a difference.

Your circadian rythym is off.

Do you drink a lot before bed ?
If I have too much water or decaffeinated tea coffee or any liquid. I will wake up to go.
Stress is also the reason I wake up some nights.
Do you have upsetting dreams? That you can’t seem to resolve. I wake up when I can’t seem to make the outcome as I want it to be.

Is something on your mind? Worried or excited about anything/someone? Caffeine and alcohol or drugs will mess with sleep big time and so can eating late in the night. Good sleep is all about routine. Go to bed at the same time and more importantly wake up at the same time no matter what time you went to bed.

Check with your doctor. You may have some type of sleep disorder.

You might have set your biological clock(in your mind) to wake up @ thee PM bc every nite you concentrate on the fact that you’re gonna wake up at three PM. For example I wake up @ a different time each day, when I go to sleep and set my alarm (on mobile) on 7.50u, I concentrate on that time, and the next day I woke up 7.49u realizing I set my alarm 50 min too late. But I woke up bc I thought of that time before I went to sleep. So I set my I believe I could even go without an alarm but not when Im really tired. You should try and concentrate on the time you have to get up, for example look at the clock and say to yourself “I have to get up at 9 tomorrow. At 9, I definetly need to wake up/get up/be awake.” And repeat about 3 times! You’ll see that you’ll wake up at 9.

For what it is worth: when diabetes is poorly controlled, one tends to wake up at 3.00 am in order to pee. I never understood the science of it, (I mean, why 3.00am?) but after a series of broken nights, I saw the utility of returning to the diet & exercise regimen.

I don’t know why it happens, but when it does, I wish you wouldn’t keep calling to talk about it.
