I was just wondering if there is a word for an open grave.
Ditch
I looked, but the best I could come up with was “hole.” Would a foreign word do? I haven’t looked for those.
A hole.
Terrence McKenna would call it “The Yawning Grave”.
a foreign word would actually be fairly sweet!
@RealEyesRealizeRealLies you gets a GA for mentioning McKenna :)
@roysters5 Crud. I’ll see what’s I can find, but no guarantees.
@uberbatman
McKenna IS GA.
Latin – patefacio sepulchrum
Um.. okay. None that I can find that is just one word. However, a consolation, here’s a site with a glossary of terms you might find interesting: Blogging a Dead Horse
A cenotaph is a monument to someone whose remains lie elsewhere. How interesting; something new!
How are you using the term? You could describe it as a turned down bed, ready for the eternal slumberer. (aka “dirt napping”.)
@mrentropy Thank you! I like this site is quite helpful and fascinating! @PandoraBoxx That’s a very lovely way of putting it!
@roysters5 Yer welcome. It’s what I do.
I think McKenna was making a literary allusion. Both Byron and Milton used the expression.
Thank you, I had no idea it wasn’t a McKenna original. And your assessment is quite correct.
