NSFW. Is the female population unwittingly modeling themselves on the blow up doll?

“Great Question” (12points)

I had a sudden aha! Moment. I realize that gradually and insidiously females are remodeling themselves very closely to the blow up doll. Think about it. Small waist, large lips that are difficult to close and very easily form an “O” shape. Small pert plastic breasts, long straight legs and blonde hair. Wide shocked blue eyes (contacts). Maybe too many face lifts? Do men realize this? Do women realize this? Did the blow up doll become the sex symbol of lust before women blowing their lips out, or was it the other way around? Will this eventually lead to females driving in cars in the stand up position with their mouths open?

That is an interesting observation. Hasn’t this been the practice since the pin-up calendar girl, Marilyn Monroe, the Barbie Doll, and reality tv?

deni's avatar

I think that look is awful, and yes I’m sure a lot of women do want to look like that. But god, I don’t. Especially the lips. And straight legs. NO THANK YOU!

CMaz's avatar

I do like my women in a natural state.

JeffVader's avatar

Did anyone notice that Rene Zellweger looks like a blow-up doll on the cover of Bridget Jones 2?

nikipedia's avatar

I think the more likely explanation is that men find certain characteristics appealing, so both blowup dolls and women who want to attract men exhibit them.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

That’s an interesting angle. I was wondering what percentage of the males in fashion are gay so they don’t really know what straight men look for?

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@nikipedia I think the blowup doll look is also crap.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

When I look at a woman I want to see a sparkle and a sense of humor, not that blank look.
@nikipedia I didn’t want you to take that personal, I just meant the look.

JeffVader's avatar

Although, at least with a blow-up doll you can over-inflate or under depending on what bodyshape you want!

Just_Justine's avatar

@JeffVader and maybe get a really good “bang” hahahaha

plethora's avatar

Much truth to that I think. Certainly it is true in reference to the female image print media represents, where 99% of it is photoshopped (not a guess on the 99%).

@Adirondackwannabe Very good point.

I find that the things I see about women on women’s magazine covers as desirable features are all features I don’t care for. Straight legs, thin thighs, hard tight butts, small pert breasts, boob jobs, lip jobs, hairless pubic areas (just like the blowup dolls). I don’t like dolls. I do like natural women, stretch marks and all.

@Adirondackwannabe You got me thinking about that homosexual aspect now. The fashion world and the women’s media world is ruled by them. They got no idea what heterosexual men want.

JeffVader's avatar

@Just_Justine Haha, thats bad :)

partyparty's avatar

Basically I think females look too artificial these days.
What has happened to the natural look?

escapedone7's avatar

omg I just suddenly had this image of Joan Rivers pop in my head.

Just_Justine's avatar

@plethora where do we find men like you ???? my mom always used to say “gay men rule the fashion world why listen to them” she was a wise old biddy :) which reminds me, I must stop listening to my best gay guy friend lol.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@escapedone7 With the stretch lines on the sides of her face.

Just_Justine's avatar

@escapedone7 was she driving standing up in a soft top convertible?loololol.

ucme's avatar

If only you would fold nicely away & be quiet when the football’s on then you’d have it licked, ooh err.

Coloma's avatar

There is a field especially prepared for the blow up flower.
Artificial flowers have no scent! I guess thats okay for those that have no sense of smell, like attracts like! Being the wildflower that I am I prefer a bumblebee, my blossom their buzz!........lololol

plethora's avatar

@Just_Justine We’re the older guys who are interested in women approximately our own age, not the age of our children…..:)

MrsDufresne's avatar

Unfortunately, the women that make themselves into these blow up dolls have a deranged sense of what they think they need to be in order to get some men to love them.

@ucme You need to be tickled relentlessly until you can’t breathe!!

gemiwing's avatar

Hmmm, let me think. No wrinkles, no horrible and offensive parenthesis on our faces, fat lips, never a stray body hair to be found, legs that should never close (to our partners only though! don’t want her getting ideas now!), not speaking, reflecting only what others around us want us to be, bleached out hair, giant eyes that have raccoon lines around them…...

Yep. Looks like blow-up doll territory to me.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@plethora I’ve liked the curves my entire life. My first prom date was built like the proverbial brick outhouse.

wundayatta's avatar

No. It’s the other way around. The blow-up doll is based on an idealized/sexualized woman.

And if there is a role model for that phenotype, it’s more likely to be Barbie than a blow-up doll.

ucme's avatar

@MrsDufresne Yeah baby yeah!

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

The shallowness of the thinking is kind of disturbing. How can you develop a relationship if the doll idea is what your after? That was before I saw w’s post. But it does explain some of the cosmetic surgery.

judochop's avatar

Wow, I do not know where you live but I think I would like to visit. At least for a weekend.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

Well, obviously – the blow up doll is fashioned after the porn star, the porn star is fashioned after what some men find desirable (blond hair, low waist to hip ratio, big breasts).

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir I was a little hesitant to put this out there. Remember I’m trying to unlearn how to objectify women.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe That is a journey taken separately from stating facts about sexism in America.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

very good.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

I personally don’t know anyone who models themself after a blow up doll…who can possibly fart that much?? lol

tranquilsea's avatar

I read a study not that long ago where they asked guys what their ideal was in a woman’s body shape. To many people’s surprise the majority wanted women to have a nice butt and that was #1. Behind that feature was the desire for big breasts. They didn’t care, really, about how flat a woman’s stomach was or, particularly, how much she weighed.

I asked my hubby what he though and he agreed. But then he married me and I am definitely not built straight up and down.

The fashion/beauty industry has a warped idea about beauty. IICR, Cindy Crawford said that not many people recognize her when she is running errands. She had one lady tell her, as she waited in a grocery lineup, that she, “looked a lot like Cindy Crawford.”

I think that the women who are lining up for these procedures have poor self-confidence most of the time.

@tranquilsea “I think that the women who are lining up for these procedures have poor self-confidence most of the time”

Yes, and the doctors are selling them snake oil

Coloma's avatar

@plethora
Agreed. So many other things to devote our time, attention and $‘s to.

Besides the vanity/ego issues, there is also the risk factors of ‘enhancements’ gone wrong.

I have witnessed this in some of my personel relationships. One friends breast enhancement went wrong and it took 3 follow up surgeries to correct and a lot of pain in every department.

Another was a young mom in her early 30’s with 2 small children.
A ‘routine’ tummy tuck caused her to have a stroke during the proceedure and she is now half paralyzed forever! So sad.

CyanoticWasp's avatar

I like my women in any of the 50 states, and several foreign countries. Oceans are good, too.

I did have to laugh at the “unwittingly” part of the Q. I thought that these types of body modifications were done very, very deliberately.

Sophief's avatar

I just love your questions. You have a great mind.

Do men really go for the dumb look anymore? I don’t think so. I think they prefer something more natural.

jackm's avatar

I can’t wait until all women complete the transformation to blowup doll.

phil196662's avatar

Totally unrealistic look! real top heavy, imagine the back problems they have or will have as all that weight sets in and doc’s can’t explane_ why…

Woman!!! Get real… Don’t do it…

Dr_Lawrence's avatar

@Just_Justine Your observation is astute and the phenomenon is sad and discouraging.

As a man, I have never desired the Marilyn, Barbie, Playboy designed woman.

So I look at them, yes. I would however look at a hippo tiptoeing on it’s hind legs carrying an umbrella.

A woman who is real inside and out has always been so much more desirable to me than a woman with extreme implants, extensive cosmetic “enhancements” and excess makeup.

There is nothing appealing about a blow-up doll or a woman emulating one.

Shuttle128's avatar

I’m not so sure it isn’t the other way around…...

Coloma's avatar

I’ve been thinking of making a ‘Playgoose’ calender with my pet goose in speedos poolside with a bowtie and his Corona bucket. lolol

I think it would be a fowl hit!

Facade's avatar

I don’t look like that at all :\

Maybe it’s a coincidence.

filmfann's avatar

Is This what you’re talking about?

Paxan8's avatar

@plethora will you marry me:) haha

plethora's avatar

@Paxan8 I’m glad you asked today…..just in time. Of course, I will….:)

The evolutionary psychologists are more likely to say that it has to do with evolutionary psychology.
Like every other evolutionary psychologist, this guy’s reasoning boils down to “because in the ancestral environment, that’s why.” Annoying as all heck.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

Cannot say I have seen that in these parts but women more and more, and younger still, seem to be attiring themselves for the male eye. Some go the other way and try and dress as frumpy as possible not to have men watching them. Women posting selfies of themselves in lingerie, bikinis, or various forms of undress, seem to be spurring other women to either be bold enough to do it themselves where before they never would, or to keep in the game and not be ignored
