Any good acoustic music out there?

“Great Question” (1points)

I saw that Vanessuh posted a question that got a lot of excellent answers about depressing music, and I’m going in the same direction. Does anyone listen to any acoustic music with lots of guitar and/or piano? Happy, sad, love songs, they’re all great. It would be helpful to list specific songs instead of artists :) These are a few examples of what kind of sound I’m into.

1. “Half Alive” – Secondhand Serenade
2. “Simple Man” – as covered by Shinedown
3. “Beauty In The Breakdown” – Scene Aesthetic

@rarebear- Ah I’ve overlooked bluegrass for so long! I’ve always liked that fiddle and banjo sound :)

Anything from Leo Kottke. When I was 16, I stumbled upon this record at the library. Many, many years later I still listen to it all the time.

Willie Nelson – Crazy: The Demo Sessions
I couldn’t believe this when I first heard it. It’s closer to a Nat King Cole than it is to the lame pop that is 90% of “country” music. Includes the recording of Crazy that sold the song to Patsy Cline.

I forgot to put links. I’m so neglectful when I posted this question. I vow to do better!

Seether did an acoustic version of Broken that’s pretty good.
Maroon 5 did a cover of Nine Inch Nail’s Closer. It’s not as good as the original, but it’s still pretty damn decent.
Definitely check out Shadow on the Sun by Audioslave.

Music is such a personal thing, but Philly has a great radio station, WXPN that plays a lot of the kind of music you might like. You can listen to it streaming on their website and they have archives of some of their shows like World Cafe. Check it out.

“My Humps” by Black Eyed Peas, there’s some great acoustic covers of it on YouTube
