I always thought I wanted to be a court reporter. Even in my senior year of high school I still had that dream. But didn’t have the money to pursue it until my children were grown. Went to college and am now a pharmaceutical rep.
When I was about 4, I told my parents I wanted to be water so people could swim in me when they got too hot.
I wanted to be a vet for a while, but I became too sensitive towards animals.
I wanted to be supreme dictator for life. Then I got a look at all the dictators. Unattractive, icky beards, (Except Kin Jong Il), big bellies, uniforms with probably fake ribbons. Nah.
I wanted to be a xeno-anthropolgist. I was convinced that by the time I grew up we’d have been travelling all over the galaxy and found sentient life on other planets. I’d be there studying it.
I told my dad what I wanted to do, and he gave the the word with a latin lesson mixed in. Not only was I a geek, but so were my parents.
When I was really, really little, I wanted to be a veterinarian or a teacher.
At one point, I remember wanting to be a stripper. My parents raised me well.
@summerlover – I was a catholic school girl as well, though I never felt the desire to be a nun… but then again religion wasn’t a big part of my home life…just school which I hated because the nuns were flat out nasty.
At the age of 4 I wanted to be a shop keeper…at the age of 8 I wanted to be a zoo keeper…at the age of 12 I wanted to be a Biologist, then a vet, then an optometrist….now I’m studying psychology…..go figure.
I’m in the military but I always wanted to be a writer which I have accomplished. I’m working on my second novel. When I get out of the military, I want to go to culinary school and become a pastry chef .
Write children stories, then a nun, then a teacher, then be a scientist, then I had a Jacque Cousteuo (not sure of spelling) period, then a doctor (surgeon) , then an accountant, then a lawyer. Oh, forgot one I really wish I could do. Be a photographer for National Geographic Magazine.
But since I was 10, I wanted to be a mom, and I did that. :)
Sales rep for a department store. Did it.
Sales rep for a small fashion boutique. Did it.
Model. Did it.
Good wife to a hot husband. Doin’ it. ;)
Musician. I still want this one.
Artist. I still want this one too.
Author. I still want this one as well.
I think it changed every week! So many things looked interesting to me. The one constant through all of that, though, was to be a paramedic. Did it! Yay, me :)
@summerlover F motherhood. hahahaha ;P
It isn’t some big feat to have a child. Fourteen year old’s are doing it all over the country.
The best thing in life is arguable.
@phillis Pff. Its a sad day when someone should be praised for raising the child they brought into the world correctly. x_x
I know that I’m young. But I’m just the kind of person that doesn’t “get” children.
@Trillian some of those dictators looked pretty hot in their younger days: Fidel, Muammar Khadafi [or however they are spelling it today], shah Reza Pahlevi, even Saddam didn’t look too bad. I think there was another middle eastern hunk but I forget who.
Between the ages of 4 and 18 years old I wanted to do the following (some more seriously than others): Vet, Singer, Actress (really I was just desperate to play Annie!), Travel Agent (my mum did this for a while and I thought it looked like fun, this “dream” didn’t last very long!), Midwife (this was one of my more serious considerations) and journalist. I am none of those things nowadays!
@rangerr I told my parents that I wanted to be a Mermaid and I was adamant that I would be one day!
