@ChazMaz, global warming, along with our other actions, is causing a mass extinction event, one of only six in Earth’s history.
We aren’t part of the natural cycle of life. Humans alone can radically alter our environment. Humans alone have complex society and technology—and moral systems and responsibilities. I’m not okay with going down in history as the progenitors of Earth’s 6th great extinction event.
And this is to say nothing of the harm global warming will do to human society. It won’t be the end of the world, even in a worst-case scenario. It will be the end of millions of poor people’s towns, farms, and ways of life, however.
Even if you don’t accept that we have a moral responsibility to not cause a mass extinction event, surely you agree that we have a moral responsibility to each other?
