Straight talk has been a pleasant surprise. Got tired of 450 minutes, extra for 250 texts and no data plan included unless you paid extra at Verizon. Everyone said the cdma phones at straight talk used the verizon network but with so much more minutes, text and data for the money.
Now that i have straight talk, I love my new phone and I’ll never use the 700 minutes/700 texts/30MB of data that I get for $30 a month. I was worried about living out here in the sticks in NC but it really does use the verizon network which has pretty good coverage. I love being able to use my cell phone to do mobile banking. At first I thought it wouldn’t work since straight talk wasn’t one of the service provider options when i was setting up the mobile banking thing. i clicked the verizon selection and sure enough, everything works.
Only regret is that I didn’t switch sooner. I’ve had one dropped call in the few weeks that I’ve had straight talk but it was much worse with vz. reception is so much better now so maybe it was time for a new phone (the local verizon store tested my phone and said it was fine). I did notice that straight talk doesn’t offer smart phone, i-phone, etc. options but if you’re can find a phone you like on their website, i say give it a try. no contract! that’s the best part i think after being imprisoned by that at Verizon.
Read tons of reviews and many complained about the customer service. Straight talk must have been listening, I have not been put on hold, they understand English, and are able to do what I ask for (I called to get rid of that message that tells you how many minutes you have before connecting each and every dialed phone call).
