Hi. I am hoping to find out the title of a book I read awhile ago. I’m not sure if it is possible as the details I remember are foggy and scattered. But I want to try. When I read it there was a girl’s name in there. I remember thinking ‘this is what I’m going to name my first girl’. And I did. I would love to buy the book for her as a keepsake.

Details I remember: (or kinda remember anyway…)
A couple moves to a new town. I think they had a miscarriage or loss of some sort but for a lot of the book they only elude to it before it finally comes out. I am remembering they are people-of-color for some reason and am not sure if that is important in the book or something I am imagining. One of their town friends ends us getting very ill. Her best friend is cold and mean (Piper). But turns out to be really great. She helps the husband of the sick woman. Then after the sick woman passes away the best friend ends up getting with the husband. The main character and the best friend are at odds for a bit of the book but at the end become friends. (that’s it, i know, i know not much but i thought i’d give it a try anyhow). Thanx!

Sorry, doesn’t sound familiar to me.
Good luck. I hate it when I can’t remember the name of a book/movie/song.

It sounds like you may be talking about this book
Belong to Me: A Novel by Marisa De Los Santos

Synopsis:
Everyone has secrets. Some we keep to protect ourselves, others to protect those we love.

A devoted city dweller, Cornelia Brown surprised herself when she was gripped by the sudden desire to head for an idyllic suburb. Though she knows she’s made the right move, she approaches her new life with trepidation and struggles to forge friendships. Cornelia’s mettle is quickly tested by judgmental neighbor Piper Truitt, the embodiment of everything Cornelia feared she would find in suburbia. A saving grace soon appears in the form of Lake, and Cornelia develops an instant bond with this warm yet elusive woman.

As their individual stories unfold, the women become entangled in a web of trust, betrayal, love and loss that challenges them in ways they never imagined, and that ultimately teaches them what it means for one human being to belong to another.

@squidcake – lol. Well maybe this will impress you even more.
I’ve never read the book or even heard of it before.
Google is my friend :)

@RedPowerLady – that’s pretty cool about wanting to get the book you first heard the name you chose for a keepsake. Which name was it? Did you name her Piper, or was it another name in the book?

@PattyAtHome You really can google a book description? I google everything.

I named her Piper.

@RedPowerLady – Well not a complete description, you just have to be good at picking out the right search terms. For yours book and piper were givens, and then adding things like best friend, town, couple, sick, etc. Just tried different words till relevant things started coming up. You also need to check many pages deep in the results sometimes. I’m really good at finding very obscure but interesting things that way.

Doing searches like that is how I came across the webpage I promote on my profile page. http://iwantmygayback.com

Sometimes it pays to have patience. LOL
