We got married last summer in a local park. It is located on the bank of a river, has a large pond in the center and woods all around. We rented a pavilion ($150 USD) and set up chairs (which we borrowed from our in-laws church) in a semi-circle in a small round clearing of trees for the wedding (~45 people) and then had all of our friends/extended family show up and bring a dish to share for the reception (~125 people?).
Our friends who are singers brought their equipment and sang during the ceremony. Members of our religious community who had just hosted a gathering for a family member who had passed donated their left-over flowers for us to decorate for our wedding. We hung toole around the pavilion to decorate. Friends grilled chicken and burgers.
All in all… and amazing day.
Be creative and keep your eyes open. You’ll find just the right spot.
