We used to get National Geographic Kids, but we hated it. The whole thing was like one big product tie in advertisement for the latest movie or video game. Might check out National Geographic Little Kids instead, but if it has the same amount of advertising and product tie ins to stories it will be in the rubbish immediately.
I’m so glad you guys mentioned Highlights. I got that when I was a kid. Now they have High Five, for the younger kids. My friend’s son gets it. I kinda stinks that they don’t have Goofus and Gallant in that one, or the Timbertoes – only the cat and dog get a strip in High Five.
My favorite when I was little was Ranger Rick. Every month, I would look forward to it coming, and I would normally sit down and read the whole thing in one sitting. Then, I would go back and reread parts of it throughout the month. I think I was in third grade when I started getting it. If I remember correctly, Your Big Backyard was made for slightly younger children. Both of those magazines cost $15 for a year’s subscription, and I believe they come out monthly.
