Why not just leave his profile active and take a break? You’d think he’d want to offer up his opinion here again at some point, even if he’s burned out at the moment. I guess he could come back with a new name.

They have restored other people’s accounts at times; I imagine they could restore his or he could start a new account if he chose to.

Well, at times he gets carried away and gets aggressive. He even shows discriminatory behavior and recently I became his target as well. I was totally shocked and couldn’t believe what I was reading. He bluntly told me that it’s time that I accept my share of guilt for the crimes committed by the Nazis. He crossed a line. I was wondering what went wrong. Something really bad seems to be happening in his life. He’s very smart and knowledgeable. Is he mentally unstable? I really don’t understand his erratic behavior.

What? What do you have to do with Nazis? Maybe you’re right, something is amiss.

I’m a German citizen born in 1962. My kids are American. I know dpworkin lost family members in the holocaust and I told him repeatedly that I totally agree with him that the holocaust was the most heinous crime in the history of mankind. I’m passionately anti-Nazism, anti-fascism etc. I pointed out that the German language got rid of the word ‘race’ (Rasse) when talking about humans using terms like ‘ethnic origin’ instead, while English still uses the word race when talking about black or white people although biologically speaking the concept doesn’t make sense. I suggested that English could follow the German example. Then he freaked out, like how could the German language be a role model, although I’m still not sure what exactly pissed him off. It really got very ugly and the moderators at some point removed most comments. It was my worst experience on Fluther so far.
