I kind of alluded to this on another question, but I had a very nice Mother’s Day. I sent flowers to my mom and my grandma, and chatted with each of them on the phone. I also sent a card to my dad’s wife. They met and married when I was already an adult and out of the house, so I have a hard time thinking of her as my “stepmom,” although I do like her a lot. Also talked to her on the phone.
My husband and kids gave me cards and a huge Nerf dart gun which I later used to whip all their butts in a Nerf war. :) They made me breakfast in bed, too. My in-laws had us over for lunch, and they gave me some flowers. We got my mother-in-law a silly t-shirt, and the kids made cards for her. We also celebrated my sister-in-law’s birthday and had cake. My mother-in-law bought five super-soaker water guns last week, and the kids wanted to try them out. In spite of the day being only 50 degrees (and very windy) they got into a huge water fight with my husband and his dad. It was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, especially when my father-in-law had his water gun stolen by one of the kids and resorted to chasing everyone around with a big pitcher of water.
We then spent the rest of the afternoon just hanging around the house and relaxing. When we put the kids to bed, my 6 year old asked to stay up to read for a while. I was happy to let him, because he has never wanted to read on his own. Ten minutes later I peeked into his room and saw him sound asleep with the book still in his hands. So cute, but the little stinker woke up when I tried to take his picture.
