I’m with @Trillian on this one. I make cookies using real butter and sugar, then give some away and just don’t pig out on the rest or let the kids eat too many of them. :)
This site has tips and recipes for healthier cookies. One thing you can do is incorporate healthier additions into the cookies instead of just using chocolate chips. Oatmeal, peanut butter, and dried fruits come to mind. You can experiment with using honey as a sweetener, or adding some wheat germ to the cookie dough. I haven’t tried it with cookies, but when I make quick breads, like banana bread, I replace half the oil with unsweetened applesauce (it’s also a good substitute for oil or butter when making pancake batter). Sometimes I actually do try out healthier recipes, usually when I’m out of some key ingredient, and most of the time I’m perfectly happy with the results. This coming from the woman who made chocolate chip M&M cookies today, loaded with sugar and butter, haha!
