Would you use your s/o’s deodorant? I would.
Toothbrush? No. I’d prefer having my own, which I do. Would you be hurt if someone refused to use Your toiletries?

Deodorant, yes. Toothbrush, no. I wouldn’t be offended if someone did not want to use my stuff, because I am picky about using my own stuff. I would rather not brush my teeth than use anothers brush.

what @Blackberry said. I love hubby more than reason allows but I’d never use his toothbrush, or anyone elses. Deodorant is ok though.

Toothbrush, no way no how.Somethings are sacred surely, by gum.

I would not use someone else’s deodorant, unless it was a spray-on; and I would not use someone else’s toothbrush. Sorry. I would in no way be offended if someone didn’t want to use my toiletries.

my boyfriend and i use each others toothbrushes and deoderants. we dont carry ours back and forth when we stay at each others houses so its just easier. if we’re making out and having sex anyhow, WHAT is the difference?

Deodorant, yes. Toothbrush, not likely unless it’s my partner’s. I wouldn’t be offended because the bacteria from each person’s body is a bit different. When I shave my legs with my partner’s shaver then I pop in a blade I keep spare and then pop his back in so I don’t worry about either of us getting weird breakouts.

My boyfriend and I share deodorant all the time. I actually ended buying him some of his own for my place because he would use a lot of my deodorant on his huge armpits. :P

Toothbrushes, however… I know it seems weird, I mean my boyfriend has done things to me that would make my mother puke, but I still could not share a toothbrush with him. However, I am quite happy to share a toothbrush with my mother which is very odd.

Not bloody likely… :)

Used my boyfriend’s deodorant once. That didn’t bother me at all. Wouldn’t want to use his toothbrush, though. Probably wouldn’t borrow any of these from anyone else other than him.

Definitely NO to the toothbrush. One should be very skeptical when it comes to deodorant. Underarms can carry fungus.

Where does the use of personal items begin and end? you left out using someone’s razor. i would never use someone’s toothbrush or razor. deodorant would be questionable.

My husband has “manly” deodorant. I hate smelling like a guy. But, I use it when I really need to.
I refuse to use his toothbrush. Gross.

no
and add towels to the mix… no towel sharing either, thank you very much

MAYBE aerosol deodorant. Never toothbrush.

I have used my boyfriends toothbrush before. We were staying in a hotel over night and I forgot to pack my toothbrush. By the time I went to brush my teeth in the evening and realised that I had forgotton it, it was too late to try and find a shop that would sell them so I used his. As he said, we share a lot of bodily fluids anyway, what difference does it make. Obviously I would prefer to use my own but on occassions like that, I don’t have a problem with sharing.

Toothbrush, no. Deodorant yes (unless it was a girly one).

Whaaat? You’d rather have someone else’s under-arm-cooties mingling with yours, rather than your SO’s toothbrush? You guys are already sharing saliva. Thats odd.
I’ve never shared either. I don’t think I would if I had the choice. :P

casheroo's avatar

@meagan Toothbrushes carry lots of bacteria. There’s nothing to leave on the deodorant like there is with a toothbrush.

KatawaGrey's avatar

@casheroo: Actually, what gets me isn’t the bacteria, it’s the chunks that might stick to someone’s toothbrush like plaque or food particles.

casheroo's avatar

@casheroo That too. Yuck.

I find a lot of these responses amusing simply because on one hand, I understand what @KatawaGrey when she said “I know it seems weird, I mean my boyfriend has done things to me that would make my mother puke, but I still could not share a toothbrush with him.” On the other hand, however, if you’ve done everything under the sun with this man, what’s the big deal?

My personal response? Deodorant, yes. Toothbrush, no. Towels and washcloths, yes.
