What are the prevailing attitudes of middle eastern Arabic countries regarding the cultures of the far east?

I think it is generally clear how they feel about the west. So, how exactly do the Arabic countries interact and mingle within the business and social realm of far eastern culture.

Seeing as the chinese and japanese culture are arguably very closed to outsiders, I think it is interesting that the west acts as a lightning rod for much of the worlds ire. But don’t make that the discussion.

The question I really would like to know the answer to is how these two geographies interact. When I say far east I think it is fair to include India.

The attitude I would project on the middle east regarding the west is one of mutual respect, with a strong financial relationship that is disturbed by the specter of islamic terrorism, and the west’s necessary response to it.

I think including India in with other far eastern countries such as Japan, Korea, China and the Indochinese nations might be a mistake in this case. I would venture to guess that India isn’t regarded much better than Israel among most middle eastern countries. Also Indonesia should probably also be considered separately due to it’s high Islamic population.

I don’t have an answer unfortunately, but I’m intrigued to hear what others might have to say.

@gorillapaws, well I thought the same as you, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to throw them in there. I mentioned china and japan exclusively because they are the big players I am interested in, but all the pieces fit together so it might help to know how india fits in too.

I agree, but if anyone has an answer feel free to comment on india too.

Both Japan and China are very ethnocentric ( to be charitable ), and tend to look down upon both the West and the Middle East. The Japanese have a word for the people of non-Japanese descent: Gaijan. It’s not very complimentary.
