What is your latest musical discovery?

Time and time again, I’ve been able to count on the collective to provide great musical suggestions. My musical situation as of late has been a bit stagnant, and I could use some new tunes. So, what music have you heard lately that you can’t take off of repeat? It doesn’t have to be brand new music per se, just what is currently making your ears happy.

They remind me of an English and clean version of Mr Bungle.
EDIT: After reading “Only Death is Real”, I have a profound and an even greater appreciation for the band Hellhammer and Tom G Warrior in general, and I’ve been listening to the Satanic Rites demo a lot lately.

I’ve been rocking the album by Sleigh Bells recently. I don’t necessarily know how to describe them, but they’re kind of a noise hip-hop duo. My friend described it as “Beyonce meets Top 40 hip hop on acid”, which I guess seems pretty accurate. They use hip hop drum beats, plus a single guitar and female vocalist.

She’s got mad skills on many instruments but her beatin’ up on that Dulcimer is crazy good. Can’t get it out of my head.

And if she can hang with Levon Helm ( The Band ) that’s a good enough reco for me.

She’s appeared at his Midnight Ramble up in Woodstock.

Lately I’ve been getting into the music of Glazunov. Raymonda the ballet is what started it, even though I had heard his concert waltzes a while ago. I was sampling bits of his symphonies on iTunes and I’m starting to realize that pretty much everything by Glazunov is excellent.

@Draconess25 Lordi, Nightwish and Dream Theater are great bands! You might also want to try Tarot and Delain, both of which have the same bassist as Nightwish.

So far, I’m highly addicted to the band Empire of the Sun, singles like ’ Without You’ and ’ Walking on a Dream ’ . I also like the song ’ Bodyaches ’ by Sugar and Gold, it sounds kind of like Daft Punk and Tahiti 80, if your into techno/electronic pop—I heard it at Hollister once, its very good chill music. Hope this helps :)

They’re not my latest discovery, but I do love Of Montreal, and they have a new album coming out in September. I think a track features Solange Knowles, of all people! That should be interesting.

I’ve also been listening to a ton of Battles lately, mostly because of their amazing instrumentalism. I mean, the guitarists can finger tap on a guitar, play a different keyboard melody, and sing all at the same time. I can’t think of many bands that can do that.

Rediscovering an old favorite, I’ve been liking the new Chemical Brothers album as well. So much more experimental and weird than their last few, but much better.

etc.
The list goes on, but you get the idea, and even these should keep you busy for a while.
