When the back arrow doesn't take you where you were, what does it mean and how else do you get there?

In Fluther about an hour ago, I tried to use the back arrow to get to the list of things that have to do with ”..cookies, leaving .. logged in…” but it was no longer there. Have you read it?
When the back arrow doesn’t take you where you were, generally, what does it mean and how else do you find it? I wrote the moderator about the Fluther part, but I need an answer for the general question.

Use your mouse to click on the word/letter where you want to be. Use your delete key from there if you need to delete a word or letter.

Ahh, I misunderstood the question.

If a back arrow takes you to a page with dynamic content, it won’t look the same as it did before. Some links also take you to one-way streets, i.e., you look for a back arrow, but you don’t find one.

Ctrl+H brings up your Internet history. You can usually find a back page in there.

Thanks everyone. I guess I have to wait until it happens to me again, to try your suggestions, right? Thanks again.
@chyna I gave you a point for your second posting

What I meant was is there a site that you can think of that seems to do that all the time, so I can try it.
