I usually try to go back to sleep but then I lie there thinking about whatever is keeping me up and stressing over the fact that I’m up. This inevitably ends in accidentally falling asleep but thinking I’m awake and then eventually getting the morning headache.
If it’s a matter of insomnia:
I’ve been trying to read up on insomnia cures and such. There seems to be a consensus that you should get up and do something relaxing like listen to music or read a book to take stuff off your mind and then get tired without stressing.
If it’s just bad timing, I would try to avoid the nap as much as possible. If you can’t, pull out a crazy old book at bed time. Though they are very good, the language tends to be too… wordy and put me to sleep if I’m in a cozy bed. “Moby Dick”, “Scarlet Letter”, anything like that. Wordy.
If it’s college… well… most things in college are done on tiny amounts of sleep…
Speaking of which, I’ve got a book to read. Good luck!
