I did a hard reset, which normally erases all temp files, but those pages just won’t go away.

Google has always been the default in the Safari browser search bar, which was just fine with me.

Yahoo seems to have hijacked it somehow which annoys me greatly. Short of manually typing in Google’s address each and every time, how can I get rid of this sorry state of affairs ?
