Hot chocolate fondant. Really is one of the simplest yet nicest chocolate desserts. Nicest thing is 4/5 of the ingredients you should have lying around all the time.
Recipe makes 2, but can be double/tripled etc.
50g dark chocolate. The darker the better, although you can always add cocoa powder
50g butter plus extra for greasing
50g flour
50g sugar
2 eggs
1. Melt chocolate and butter together until smooth, and let to cool for 5 minutes
2. Whisk sugar, 1 egg and 1 egg yolk in a bowl until pale and thick.
3. Sieve flour into the bowl and add the chocolate and butter mix.
4. Fold everything together
5. Add to two already buttered ramekins
6. Put into a preheated oven at 160°C for 14 minutes.
7. Remove from ramekins and serve with cream/icecream and/or dust with icing sugar.
There are some nice alterations to this recipe – such as adding liquor or chilli flakes to the chocolate mix in stage 1, but this goes over the 5 basic ingredients. Original recipe had 60g of sugar, but I found 50g is still fine and saves you 5g per serving :P. Can probably use sweetener to save your soul.
Am going to try this recipe with white chocolate to see if it works out if anyone is interested in finding out what happens.
