@kikibirdjones Yes. Positive! I was in Hollywood at the Tower Records at 8801 Sunset Blvd. (now closed), I’m guessing circa~2004. It was at the aisle, in the second row on the right as you walk in – but I saw it last-second as I was walking out. A friend had already left the building so I didn’t want to be a slowpoke. Nevertheless, I stopped and picked it up and gazed at if for quite some time, dumbfound at the coolness of the photographic idea, but do not for the life of me remember the name of the band. I remember the look on the baby’s face as being perfectly “WTF do I do with this?”, and the ringed nipple boob being… ah… very taut – possibly legal. “Art”.
I have Mother’s Milk. It is not Mother’s Milk, although clearly inspired by it.
It is slightly possible that the CD was a used CD, and the photo showing on the cover was actually refolded from inside the overall composite cover artwork – but I suspect that is just remotely possible. Odds are much greater that the CD was an import – and the sexy photo was too much for US standards – hence not well known.
The only thing I can possibly grasp about the music itself, from my weak memory, was that I think I equated it to Björk – even though I had not heard the album, or even much of Björk’s work at the time. Maybe because the baby was bald? It could be punk for all I know.
