This weekend, I picked up a sweet phonograph (lovely) in excellent condition. The name Starck, though; it’s hard to find information online about that particular name/phonograph.

I think they were made by the P.A.Starck company in Chicago. They made musical instruments, especially pianos. I suppose phonographs were a branch product venture, in the same way that Harley-Davidson made bicycles for a while. They probably stopped making them when phonographs went electric in the early 30s. The company has been defunct for over 40 years. Many of the parts for phonographs of that era are generic; phonographs were assembled from these parts and given local brand names.
