With show names, I’ve always been against other people naming my horses.
It’s harder to name your own horses than someone else’s, but it’s a more personal touch if you can pick a name that means something important to you.
Just remember to pick a name that is easy to spell and pronounce.
We have a horse that has a Norwegian show name, and doing shows with him is insanely frustrating because of how much they butcher his name.
Also, don’t pick a name that you’ve heard before, or just sound common. Last show season, we had three horses with the name “Firefly” as their show name. It was a mess.
Also try to avoid long or too fancy names. Especially the ones that make you sound incredibly cocky about your horse.
Edit: Before someone flags me for not assisting with the name.. I’d totally use his name to my advantage for a Star Wars reference. Han Solo’s Copilot, anyone?
