When the girl climbs out of the TV in The Ring. Get the fuck outta here!!!!!

The Birds, especially the scene with the guy who’d had his eyes pecked out.
Powerlessness in general bugs me, when the malicious bad guy is going to ruin life for the protagonist and there’s nothing that he can do about it. If there’s no comeuppance for the villain, then I don’t watch the movie ever again.
Which is why I liked Manon de Sources. The comeuppance took its time getting there, but it hit like a freight train.

When I was a kid, the TV version of Salem’s Lot scared me so much I couldn’t sleep. Since then, nothing is that scary.

1408 scared the hell out of me. The whole thing. Mostly because it wasn’t a guy, it wasn’t a monster, it was the effin’ ROOM that was evil. There was no escape!

And I still get the heebie-jeebies when I watch Event Horizon. The alternate universe scenes, sure, but the part where Baby Bear decompresses is utterly horrifying to me.

I’m definitely more frightened of scary environments more than scary events.

The music…without the music/soundeffects any door opening scene would just be ‘whatever’!

The last scary movie I watched was Thirteen Ghosts..The music and not knowing what the bad guy was going to do next and when he was going to pop out. The suspense. I don’t watch them too often.. I have trouble sleeping as it is.

Another scene in that movie that scared the shit out of me is when George goes outside at night during a lightning storm and actually sees a full image of the demon-pig in the daughter’s bedroom. Things like the icky faces in The Ring. Or when you see the face of The Grudge staring at you from the attic. :0 Demon/scary ghost type movies are scary for me, i love those. :)

I’m pretty desensitized to horror movies now, but I saw Forbidden Planet, in a theater, when I was a kid, and parts of it scared the hell out of me. There’s the scene where all you see are the giant sloth’s footprints, then the ladder bending, then the screams from inside the spaceship. Later on, when you see the outline of the monster in the particle beams, it scared me too.

The finale, where the monster is burning its way through the blast doors, did me in. It’s the only movie that ever gave me nightmares. Watching the movie now, I still get a chill. And I marvel at how good the SFX were, considering when this movie was made.

I also jump out of my seat a little every time I watch the original—and I stress original—“The Thing.” It a sci-fi movie but has lots of horror elements.

When it’s children. Poltergeist tramatized me because of the little blonde girl disappearing. I left the theater—couldn’t take it.

Reminds me of how I freaked out about the AT-AT walkers when we went to see the Special Edition The Empire Strikes Back in the theater.

Michael Myer’s physical demeanor in Halloween II. He’s so robotic, calm and…it just freaks me out how he ’‘walks’’ after people.

When Laurie tricks him by putting pillows under the sheets and making it seem like someone was under there and she leaves and he comes later and stabs through the blankets at first, falling for the trick?
Man, the idea that hiding under my sheets at night would totally protect me from it all was completely shattered.

That, and that nasty therapeutic bathtub death. Oh gods.

Christine, part where the car squeezes itself through the narrow crevice to crush the one kid to death. In “The Shining” at the end where Johnny chases his kid through the maze. This is a tough one, there were quite a few I liked. GQ

A scene showing an Egyptian mummy racing across an English field in broad daylight comes to mind. It was from a dramatisation of Lot 249 by Arthur Conan Doyle. Quite unsettling to a sensitive youngster.

When I was younger, I used to be terrified of that little Danny Glick Bastard from Salem’s Lot. I just knew he would be scratching on my windows at night. LOL

…maybe he still is. :D
