How much time in a single day have you wasted at the computer?

“Great Question” (2points)

Think of the past week or month, how many hours in one single day have you spent sitting at the computer? I discovered that oneday I spent the greater part of 14 hours in front of the computer. Some of it was online shopping or checking email or bank stuff, but most of it was fluff; nothing important. Then I got to thinking how much time I spend in front of the computer and how I can’t go great spans of time not being on it because I can’t see being without it. I use the computer to check what is on TV, world news, emails, get information on things, etc. Sometimes the time is gone before I know it. Have you ever been so wrapped up with the computer when you break away from it you find most of the day has passed?

Wasted? 6 or 7 hours. I’m in love with casual games.

24 playing Starcraft 2 but I wouldn’t call it wasted.

I spent almost my entire waking day yesterday on the computer, but that was because I was sick. So about 15 hours. And I was doing nothing but mindlessly browsing Reddit. Dang.

I hop on and off my computer all day if I’m home. I didn’t sit in front of it for very long at one time. That’s kind of hard for me to do.

In the middle of the summer when I finished working. There were like 2 weeks where I did not do anything at ALL! I would wake up, find food, lay in my bed_like I M DOING Now while answering this, I am also eating chips and M&M’s :D_ eat while on my computer, Fluther, Youtube, and browsing around, when I look at my computer time, BAMM! I’ve spent most of my day laying in bed without bathing or going out!

I’m embarrassed to say.

I use my computer each day, mostly work related, but I also like spending time on Fluther.
The computer doesn’t take over my life.
I am more than happy to shut it down when I have done what I need to do.

I can’t bring myself to say. It’s THAT bad.

During the summer, I spend the better part of my day (often 5–9 hours, not always at once though) sitting in front of the computer, simply because I have nothing better to do and because I enjoy it. The most I’ve been on the computer at one time was around 10 hours, give or take.

I do spend far less time during the school year, of course.

Yes, it happens.

Our guesses tend to underestimate the time we waste.

On bad days, I guess I have spent 4–6 hours doing essentially nothing but aimless surfing.

If you use Mozilla Firefox, “Time Tracker” plug-in is a good way to keep track of the amount of time you spend on the net.

To track the time you spend on the computer in general, check out “Manic Time” which is a free tool and it even tracks which application and document you spent time on, and during which periods you were away.

But ultimately, all these are just tools – and depend on the person’s discipline and will-power to derive any benefits.

Hope to hear some more advice in this area.

I’ve been known to spend the entire day on the computer, but haven’t done so in the last few weeks.

I am on and off all day. I clean alittle bit . Take a break. Clean alittle bit . Take a break. When you see on Fluther I am usually taking a break. I also cook to and give bathes and play with my kid.

All of it.
It feels good to be alone with no one around sometimes.

Wasted in a day? At a job once, 6 out of 7 hours. Something was wrong with the proprietary system at the bank one day and all we could do was surf. Though I looked up a lot of info I needed for other things, so maybe it was more like 5 hours.

I spend the majority of my day with my computer. That being said, it’s a laptop and it just goes from room to room with me throughout the day. I am not always looking at it. I keep it up and running 24/7 in case my husband gets online. When I’m out of the house, I have my messengers turned on my phone.

I’ve spend 12 hours sitting at my desktop playing NeverWinter Nights before. I don’t really consider it a waste though because it was ll for fun.
