Nobody will play Monopoly with me. They call me The Monopoly Mobster.
Games like Monopoly and Risk bring out the competitive edge in people like no other board games I have played. I think it has to do with a mix between how the game operates (the acquisition of places, running players out of play one by one) and the sheer length it takes until there is one person left standing.
It’s easier to shout “You’re cheating!” and flip the board in a huff.
Card games are almost as bad if you’re playing one of those “How to screw your neighbor” types. People take strategies so personally sometimes.
