This is the best I can do with my crockpot. I’d own it if this was all it was good for; New Hampshire Baked Beans:
2 cups navy beans
1 cup water
½ lb bacon, coarsely chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
3 tbs molasses
2 tsp salt
¼ tsp dry mustard powder
½ cup ketchup
1 tbs worcestershire sauce
½ cup maple syrup (Grade B preferably)
½ cup brown sugar
1. In a large pot over high heat combine beans and enough water to cover. Boil for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for 1 hour.
2. Drain beans and place in crock pot. Add bacon, onion, brown sugar, maple, salt and water.
3. Mix well and cook on high setting 4–5 hours, stirring occasionally.
4. During the final hour of cooking, add the ketchup and mustard.
Serves 6–8 hungry people.
I have two pots, both are Rival. One 3.5 qt, one 6 qt. Both with low and high settings. I make this recipe in the smaller one, but often double it and use the larger.
