“Great Question” (3points)

I’m trying to think of the name of a movie that has a scene in it where the good guys are forced to run through a deadly gauntlet with a moving spiked wall behind them. There’s a crowd watching this event as entertainment. My memory is pretty fuzzy, but it has that “Mad Max” / “The Running Man” style. I’m pretty sure it’s from the 70’s or 80’s.

Beyond Thunderdome?

Are you sure it isn’t Running Man?

@FactFromFictionTruthFromDction: Logan’s Run has no spiked walls. The only crowd that’s seen watching anything is during Carousel and they die. Floating in the air all pretty like then they get vaporized. So, doubtful.

Other crowds in the movie are busy being on the run, or bangin’ each other in orgies 70s style.

I know it’s not Logan’s Run, and I’m pretty sure it’s not The Running Man. I don’t think it’s Beyond Thunderdome my memory of that movie is a bit hazy (I know it’s not the scene with the Master Blaster and the bungee cord duel if that’s what you’re thinking of).

There is this deadly obstacle course where people are watching from above (not on screens like in The Running Man). I think there’s an acid pit, and fire and other types of nasty boobie traps. But it has that same feel as the movies you guys are describing. It was in color, and I’m pretty sure there was a girl with the main guy. I don’t recall “gladiators” who are in there with them like in The Running Man, but more of an automated course that the guy is trying to get through. I believe it’s near the end of the movie. I’m sorry the details are so hazy, It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it. I appreciate all of your suggestions though.

Sounds like something “Dungeons and Dragons” ripped off…but that came out later after the 90’s…Can you name some of the actors?

Running Man only had Arnold being pushed into a spiked wall. The movie you are thinking of must be really old – 60s.

Perils of Gwendolyn had a guy and two girls going through a couple of moving walls and a guy got killed by a crystal trident kind of thing. That was from 1984.

Hi gorillapaws. I have been trying to find this too. I remember the Gauntlet and in particular a girl being made to run it, i can remember her grabbing a shield or something like that from someone and using it to role through the flames. I also remember that the place or city etc where this takes place is ruled by a sadistic half man/half machine?

Wish i could remember the name,. have you had any luck finding it?

@bedtime70 unfortunately not. The more details you can include the more likely someone else might remember it though. Thanks for sharing, if I do figure it out one day I’ll be certain to post the answer here. The shield thing does sound familiar, now that you mention it.

Oh, and welcome to Fluther.

@bedtime70 Well that makes three of us! Yeah I remember the shield too, the flames coming out of holes in the ground and she did some kind of a summersault on the shield throught the flames. Darn we’re so close lol. I think i’ll go spend another half-hour looking for it on the web, I really want to watch this movie again :)

@gorillapaws FOUND IT ! Alright the wife and I spent a couple hours looking at post-apocalyptic movie lists, and we finally found it. It’s called Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone The girl is played by Molly Ringwald, and the bad guy / monster / three-fingered cyborg is none other than Michael Ironside. I’m off to the video store now, have fun!

@oldman13 YES!!! I can’t thank you enough. It’s been driving me crazy for a while now.
