Help a girl out. Could you please post a random song lyric (include the singer/band), it's for a car driving game?

“Great Question” (1points)

My girlfriend and I are driving to Toronto tomorrow and it’s a three hour drive. We’re both music freaks and know our stuff. We like to try to stump one another by saying a song lyric and getting the other to guess which song it is and who sang it.

We tend to not make it too easy. Like, “brings all the boys to the yard…”. Or practically unknown bands, say, like Tony Danza’s Tap Dance Extravaganza.

Some from mainstream, alternative, punk, rock, soul, blues.. whatever.

You can list more than one, but, please include the name of the song and the artist.

Please ‘n thanks.

In honor of @loser, “You’re running up and down that hill, turn it on and off at will.”” – Wicked Little Town, Hedwig.

There was a lonely girl from nowhere, With a smile all sweet with pain
Private Conversation, Lyle Lovett

The voice might be one and the same.
I’ve heard it too many times to ignore it.
Rainbow Connection

@shpadoinkle_sue With all due respect =), I only know Lyle Lovett here. I have no clue who the other two are. Not going to work for the guessing game.

Thanks for playing, though. Grab your parting gift on your way out the door.

You’re a door-without-a-key, a field-without-a-fence
You made a holy fool of me, and I’ve thanked you ever since
If she comes circling back, we’ll end where we’d begun
Like two pennies on the train track the train crushed into one

Or if I’m a crown without a king, if I’m a broken, open seed
If I come without a thing, I come with all I need
No boat out in the blue, no place to rest your head
The trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead

@shpadoinkle_sue Instant lurve for quoting a Muppet song :)

@Mama_Cakes Wha? You really don’t know Rainbow Connection with Kermit the Frog? Aww, man. At least you know Lyle Lovett. :)
I’d like to redeem myself then with one more, if I could.

If you know Lyle Lovett, you gotta know Bonnie Raitt. I hope you do.

A friend of mine she cries at night, and she
Calls me on the phone
Sees babies everywhere she goes and she
Wants one of her own.

“I’ll wait in this place where the sun never shines, wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves” – Cream, White Room (is that too easy?)

“For I never knew the art of making love, though my heart aches with love for you” -Ray Charles, You Don’t Know Me (only because it is stuck in my head today. John Legend would count as the artist here, also.)

“You float like a feather in a beautiful world.” – Radiohead, Creep

“Love is a verb, love is a doing word.” – Massive Attack, Teardrop (not sure if this one would be too difficult.)

“I got a bad bad feelin’ that my baby don’t live here no more.” – Jimi Hendrix, Red House

I could probably do this for a while, but I feel like I have no direction.. I know you specified in the original question, but I don’t know what is going to be too random/hard to guess.

@shpadoinkle_sue YES!. I DO know Rainbow Connection the song! I read that as Rainbow Connection the band…

I do love Bonnie and that song. Do you want to see what’s behind door number one? Or, chose whatever is in the safe here?

shpadoinkle_sue's avatar

@Mama_Cakes Yay! Door number one, everytime.
I guess I forgot about putting kermit as the artist. My bad! Good luck and drive safe tomorrow!
