Has anyone ever taken the door panels off and oldsmobile alero?

Asked by johnny0313x (1855points) April 6th, 2008 from iPhone

my speakers are cracking and driving me crazy so I want to replace them but I’m afraid to take my door panels off in fear that it will be a huge project or that clips will break and my door panels won’t go back on securely. Anyone have experience? I have a 2000 olds alero coupe.

I couldnt tell you what this car is like exactly but most cars ive seen have the door panels put on pretty much the same way. I just replaced the speakers on my ford ranger, its really not all that hard.

If you go to a place like advanced auto or pepboys youll be able to find a tool that will help you take off the clips to avoid breaking them. Some will still break on you because well they are a pain in the ass but its a lot better than just ripping the door of like i did with my grand cherokee. After you have the door off you just take out the old speakers and put in your new ones.

Its not a hard process by any means just time consuming and a bit frustrating at times. If and when you do decide to do it make sure you have plenty of time so your not trying to rush yourself and maybe get a friend to help just so you have some company doing it.

If you have any other questions about it id be happy to help to the best of my abilities.

Those clips you refer to are rather inexpensive. Napa has most styles and the tool to pop ‘em off with. Might try them first, have someone take a peek at what you are trying to do. I’m sure that they would be happy to help you.
