Help finding story: Two satellites orbit sun to monitor activity?

Asked by DarlingRhadamanthus (11273points) February 15th, 2011

Hello, everyone…

I saw a story within the last two weeks about two satellites that were sent up some time ago and have just arrived to circle the sun and monitor its activity (flares, etc.)

I cannot find the story now…? Can anyone help me unearth this story? I have attempted different Google searches to no avail.

Thank you.

Is it this article

In 2005 and 2008 a pair of test satellites, Galileo In Orbit Validation Element (GIOVE) –A and –B, were launched into the constellation’s future orbit. The satellites were fitted with radiation monitors, still returning data to this day.

Are you thinking of the StereoProject ? They are on opposite sides of the Sun now, giving us a 360 real time view.
