Trouble with www.annualcreditreport.com?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) February 25th, 2011

I am having difficulties trying to get my free credit report.

All three agencies from annualcreditreport.com refuse to give my report online. It says they cannot process my request and that I either need to call or mail it in.

My personal information is correct and I’m pretty sure there’s no fraudulent activity on my report.

Has anyone else had this issue with annualcreditreport.com?

“For your protection, if your identity cannot be authenticated for online delivery of your credit report, you will receive further instructions on how to request your report for delivery by the U.S. Postal Service. Failure to authenticate for online delivery of your annual credit report is not an indicator of fraudulent activity or identity theft.”

This is taken directly from the annualcreditreport website.

But why can’t my information be authenticated? It’s correct. I’ve tried several different times, with the same info.

Go to the individual credit agencies websites, there’s no point in using a third party website.

I do not know the why because I do not know your circumstances. However, if you moved and the new address has not been in use by the credit companies, it can cause a problem of verification. The authentication question(s) may have been answered incorrectly… I know they threw some really old ones at me I had to really think about. Also, have you ever placed a fraud alert on your credit reports?
