Why do some people wear necklaces with their name on it?

Asked by rebbel (35553points) March 21st, 2011

Sometimes i see (mainly) girls/women wearing a necklace with a name tag on it ( i assume it is their own name).
Why do they do it?
Is it so that other people they meet know instantly what their name is?
Anyone here who wears one can enlighten me?

Why do some people put ketchup on everything? It’s just what floats their boat…

Some people like their name, I guess. I have a friend with a personalization obsession, although she sticks with initials.

Is it any worse than wearing other people’s names? Like Calvin Klein?

I have to assume that they got it as a gift, and didn’t buy it for themselves?

I know that Carrie, the lead, had one in Sex and the City, so maybe that inspired many a lady to imitate her?

It’s easier than sewing little tags with your name on them into your clothes?

I require all my slaves to wear name-tags and collars, this just saves a step

My thought was also that they must be gifts. And damn Sarah Jessica Parker.
