Is there any way to get rid of the tight feeling in my thighs?

Asked by takeachance (701points) May 5th, 2011

I had my school athletics carnival yesterday and today my thigh muscles are really tight. I stretched before and after all of the races and it still hurts to walk. Is there anyway to loosen the muscle in my tighs?

Time is all, you just over did it a little….. next week you’ll be back to normal just try & relax with your feet up. :-/

You can take a hot bath in Epsom salts. You can take aspirin for inflammation, but you are probably stuck with it. You overworked your muscles.

you have used muscles in a way that you did not before. This is normal and will depending on what muscles and how overused they got will take between 2–5 days.
The rule of thumb is to stop before the pain, but in a competition like this it is normal.
Massaging the muscle group will offer some help.
Heat is also a good relaxer

Try eating a banana next time before you work out. That will increase potassium in your body and help with the inflamation in your joints and muscles.

You should not really stretch before a physical activity. Instead warm up by jogging. Stretching before the activity tires the muscle and limits its ability to stretch during the activity. It increases likelihood of a pull or strain… I think.
