Can I build a store-locator page in Dreamweaver CS 5?

Asked by serenityNOW (3643points) May 18th, 2011

I’m troubleshooting a website with a broken store-locator page and thought it might be more prudent to just start from scratch. Problem is, I don’t know any web programming languages. (Also, because of that, I can’t decipher what’s wrong with the page that’s already up. All I know is html & css) So, can I do this in Dreamweaver? If not, does anyone know of a site/template/anything that could help me? Thanks!

Are you looking to take someones zip code and tell them where the closest store is? That is going to tricky to do well.

Would using Google Maps to plot the store locations be enough? That is about 100 times easier.

If you have knowledge of a programming language, you can use Dreamweaver or even make this in a simple text editor. (Many designers actually prefer that.)

A few lines of PHP and Javascript can make a connection to the Google Maps API, as @johnpowell mentioned. This would probably be the best option since many users are familiar with the API.

Yeah – I see Google Maps popping up on a lot of my search queries.
