Does Amsterdam accept USD?

Asked by EchozEn107 (34points) July 12th, 2011

I see that Amsterdam uses Euros as its currency. But i was wondering can you pay with USD at a coffe shop or anywhere for that matter?
Can you trade your USD for the same amount in Euros?
If you pay with USD do you get Euros back for your change?

I don’t know about Amsterdam, but most European stores and shops are not able to handle USD’s let alone have correct change in USD.
When you get to Europe convert your USD’s to Euros.

Today the conversion is one US dollar equals about 0.72 Euros

In Europe one can generally use most US bank cards and credit cards in places that take those, if one is willing to pay whatever rates they offer.

You can use an American credit card (Visa or Mastercard) anywhere in Europe but you’ll have to convert the cash to Euros. Nowhere but banks will accept US dollars.

No but you can withdraw euros from ATM’s with your bank card.
