How does one find psychological help while on the road?

Asked by FluffyChicken (5521points) July 15th, 2011

I need therapy, but will soon be embarking on a road trip of undetermined length. Are there therapists that can be seen using skype? If so, where does one find one?

This is a question that should be asked to your therapist, before you embark on your trip.

I would think that a cellphone call to your therapist would be much better than starting all over with someone new on the road.

Give he/she a call.

I don’t currently have a therapist.

Are you currently seeing a therapist? If so, see if he/she will Skype with you. I have seen an online CBT program, but it’s not direct discussion therapy, it’s “fill in this worksheet and we’ll comment on it.”

This site has therapists that you can chat with, but I have no idea if they’re qualified or even any good.

Ooops! My post came right after yours. Can you find someone to work with before you go?

It took a long time to find one locally for me to see. We are talking months to even see anyone. I would look locally and let them know of your situation.

I moved and did phone therapy for a while. I don’t see why you can’t find a therapist who will use Skype.

Flutherapy won’t do?

It certainly helps!

“Flutherapy won’t do?”

Is FluffyChicken seeking a therapist for the flu? ;-)
