Why do italic words not show as italic in the community feed?

Asked by rebbel (35553points) July 29th, 2011

I use italic pretty much when i answer or ask a question, but I notice that when I got a Ga or GQ and it gets shown in the community feed that specific word/words are not in italic.
Is that a mistake and can it be fixed?
No biggy of course.
Just wondering.
Any other glitches?

There are bigger problems dealing with security that are easily fixable that they know about and still do nothing to fix them. I don’t see this ever being fixed.. And I don’t even think it should be fixed.

It’s probably just for the sake of simplicity.

@johnpowell What’s wrong with the security?

I don’t understand your question. The community feed doesn’t include the text of your questions or answers, so how could it fail to show your italics? In this screenshot, you can see that people were given GAs and GQs, but it doesn’t include the content of those answers or questions. What are you thinking should be italicized?

@bobbinhood You are right, I was wrong.
I mistakenly mixed the Community Feed with Lurve (the feed which shows your latest GA’s and GQ’s).

Ah. It all makes sense now. I hadn’t noticed that with the lurve, but I have noticed that it does the same thing with the questions and responses in your profile. It bothers me, because if you’re looking through my responses, some of them are very confusing without the italics to show I’m quoting someone, and the paragraph break to show my actual (very different) response.

I’m betting that removing the formatting from those areas makes the code simpler and makes the site run faster, but that’s just a guess. My knowledge of website building is lacking at best.

@bobbinhood :: I will tell you what is wrong with security once they fix it. ;-)

@johnpowell That’s fair. I wouldn’t have a clue how to exploit any shortcomings, and wouldn’t do so if I could, but you obviously can’t count on that since you don’t actually know me.
