Joe MacNormal was sitting in front of the tube, watching the evening news, when he heard like a tapping sound in the bathroom. He had no pets, and his wife would be late from work. Nobody was here. But the sound insisted…tap…tap…tap…it sounded like someone was gently striking the sink, the tub or perhaps the toilet with their finger. The sound was clear, like a little bell, but it also seemed to come from within…tap…tap…tap…

It was a dark and stormy Halloween night.
Dusk fell on the gloomy mountains and the wind howled like like the grim reaper himself.
There were no trick or treaters on this hill.
suddenly, from the bowels of the forest rose an anguished scream.

Drifting upwind across the rocky ravine below the house.
The sound was unlike anything she had ever heard before!

True story:

In 1967, there were two young women, related by marriage, who worked at the local ice cream shop in a small, southern town in Virginia USA. One night, the store was robbed, and both women were shot. The investigation into the robbery and double murder lasted over 40 years.

This year, new light was shed on the case, potentially solving a long-lasting mystery that still caused fear and intrgue for the locals. Someone who had few months to live admitted to being the killer in this robbery. The confessor was not only related to the victims, but possibly was involved in a tryst with the investigating police officer, leading to the birth of their child…

Rain had all but ruined this Halloween. And yet, I continued trudging through the rain-slicked streets, wet leaves stuck to the soles of my shoes. But these troubles were far from my mind, because at last, I had reached the final stop on our Trick or Treat tour. One final house, and all of my hard work would be validated. I walked up this, the final sidewalk, and up to the door. The house, they said, had been vacant for years. But I never believed it. I’ve seen things, shapes in the windows, on some nights. Someone or something was behind this door, and if there was candy to be had from it, then why not? I raised my hand, slowly, and rung the doorbell upon reaching the doorstep. I waited for what seemed an eternity…I heard something, something…not human, and saw the doorknob turn slowly. The door creaked open. At a snail’s pace, my eyes traveled up what stood before me, when suddenly….
