How do you plan on contributing to the betterment of the U.S. now?

Asked by EverRose11 (1041points) January 27th, 2012

Being a kind person, helping humanity, your neighbor. Those things are very important but they will not fix the economy. The ‘feel good’ aspect will not fix what this country needs to get on it’s feet again. Getting people working, generating jobs here in the U.S. keeping what plants are here open that produce pay to get our economy going. America has gotten many into such a financial hole. We have OWS out there making noise , and many are unhappy with their approach So I am curious as to what are you as Americans have in mind , what approach do you feel would honestly help bring on a real change?

I’m not an activist type. As long as I don’t do anything stupid, I’m a good person lol.

Same as I have been for years:
Not buying on credit.
Not taking out loans.
Giving up attachments to things like books and accepting it’s not evil to not hoard them (this is tough).
Giving up the obsession with having a home larger than I can take care of on my little free time.
Using more things until they wear out rather than upgrading all the time.

@CWOTUS So all it is all about self? Isn’t that what got us in this situation the 1% tending their own gardens.

No, @EverRose11. I do mean “selfishness”, but the idea that selfishness somehow broke the US and world economy is a complete fallacy. What got us into this mess was loose money, awful public policy and law, and a lot of criminal activity.

@CWOTUS you said~ What got us into this mess was loose money, awful public policy and law, and a lot of criminal activity. <—You see no selfishness in those acts? How about when the rich stole from the poor? How about the banks getting bailed out in 2008, using billions of tax payer dollars to save the banks? And you believe the idea that selfishness somehow broke the US and world economy is a complete fallacy ?

“Tending our own gardens” does not translate into stealing from others, dear.

I’m not going to vote for the incumbent. That’s a start.
