What are some of the most unusual causes of death you have found?

There are the more common causes of death, like heart ailments, strokes, accidents.

There are some weird ones. One guy committed suicide with Carbolic Acid. A baby died of Anencephaly. One guy eventually died of lead poisoning (he had it a while). He went insane. Died at 76. He was a retired painter.

What are some odd causes of death you have come across?

Guy broke into a store through a high window, holding the butt of his Maglite flashlight in his mouth. Lost his balance and fell to the floor almost 2 stories below; the flashlight dislocated a couple cervical vertebrae.

Impalement. Falling so that your body is impaled on something with a sharp point, such as a wrought iron fence with spikes. (It has happened.)

If you want odd causes of death, there’s no better place to start with than the Darwin Awards, which are always good for a few hours worth of giggles.

Spontaneous combustion, the concept just blows me away.

This guy was jogging near my sister’s house. A wheel came off of a big rig and hit him.

Unlucky is an understatement.

@AngryWhiteMale – my guy made honorable mention in Darwin Awards when it happened. When I was in Citizen’s Police Academy they used his case as the crime scene study. I wondered why they did such an in depth investigation, but they were trying to determine if he was alone. If he had an accomplice that person would have been charged in his death.

@bewailknot, really? Cool (or not so cool, depending on if you knew the person that made the list!). Which year was it?

Oh boy, no9w you are trying to make me think. If it happened in 1999 I guess he was a 2000 nominee. ”(February, 1999) Santiago Alvarado, 24, was killed in Lompoc, CA, as he fell face-first through the ceiling of a bicycle shop he was burglarizing. Death was caused when the long flashlight he had placed in his mouth (to keep his hands free) rammed into the base of his skull as he hit the floor.”

@bewailknot, I found it. 1998 Darwins. People do the stupidest things, don’t they?

Taught me a lesson @AngryWhiteMale , since I often use my mouth as a third hand. Bad habit so I try to avoid it now.
