Sure. I sometimes answer the ‘related’ questions if they catch my eye. It depends on the context of the Q but sometimes Qs can have a complete revival because someone chose to answer it years later.

All the way back. << First question ever asked on Fluther!

I often look at the Related section on the lower right hand of the screen. If there is something that interests me, I answer it.

I’ve been looking at a lot of older questions lately. Sometimes just out of curiosity because a lot of question have interesting topics and debates, but also for my knowledge, so I usually don’t answer them. Like for example, today I needed an idea for how to cook chicken breasts, so instead of asking, I just searched it and there’s already about three threads on it that I looked at.

I have been back pretty far.

I answer old stuff that is mostly tech related if I can offer insight. No real need to answer “Favorite pizza toppings”. But if it is computer related I will answer since someone might google the problem they are having and find some help.

I like to scroll through the old questions sometimes and look at who was a member then. It’s a good reminder of all who passed through here.

I very rarely go back. I think I did once for a Dungeons and Dragons related question…

I don’t search out old questions but if one popped up in my “activity for you” that I felt I could contribute to further then I wouldn’t have a limit on how far I would go back.

They catch my eye and I read but normally don’t post, I don’t know anyone on the Q’s, which is weird. I want a long-term online home, so get used to my sass peeps.

Today I had a whole bunch of old Q’s come into my New Activity folder, but when I clicked on each of them, I could see that they had all been spammed. Wonder if it’s the same spammer, or a whole slew of different spammers.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Kardamom Me, too, I flagged the same person’s post in three different old Q’s, as spam.

augustlan's avatar

It was the same spammer. He was very busy for a while there!

YARNLADY's avatar

@augustlan Still is from what I can see, or is it a different one this time.

When I see a question that interests me I usually comment regardless of its age. To tell the truth, it doesn’t matter if I don’t get an acknowledgement on an older post (though I often do), because for me, expressing myself about something I feel strongly about is rewarding whether my comment is read or not.

LuckyGuy's avatar

I do it occasionally. I figure it’s fun for some people to see an old Q pop up in Activity for you If they don’t like it they can just hit “stop following”.

augustlan's avatar

@YARNLADY That was a new very busy spammer. It never ends!

blueiiznh's avatar

1823 days and that is my limit!

Each, of us, should purposely look up a really old thread, today, and answer it and see what happens, then post the results here.

OK, I’m going digging for an old food thread. Wish me luck. If you don’t hear back from me within 12 hours, send out a search party.

Paradox25's avatar

I don’t really have a time frame personally, as long as the topic interests me enough and if I see that the thread’s posters are still active on here. I’d just posted an answer to a question yesterday which was asked some 2½ years ago. I’m not a big fan of reposting somebody else’s question (though on rare occasions I do), and sometimes the older thread becomes revived. Well the choice is yours, but the above was my opinion on how I go about it.

jca's avatar

Often, if I have a question, even if it’s been asked previously, I’ll ask it again because in the past few years, so many new users have come on board, and so it’s likely a new discussion will get a whole different set of answers.
