(NSFW) Have you and your spouse/partner ever made a commitment...

Asked by SadieMartinPaul (9027points) July 27th, 2013

…to have sex every day? If yes, did you enjoy it, and how long did it last?

We tried this a few years ago, and it was surprisingly unpleasant. Instead of being something spontaneous and fun, sex became a routine chore – just another item on the to-do list, along with washing the dishes or taking out the garbage. I think we stuck with the program for a couple of weeks. We got fed up one night, when we were both very tired and wanted to sleep, but we had to do it before midnight.

The daily romp is supposed to be a good thing that enhances intimacy and brings couples closer together. Nope!

How about you? Have you tried this?

Sounds like a lot of pressure. We’re more of a “day at a time” kind of couple.

No, but I would love too.

^^^ So did Paul! He’s a dude, so of course he was very happy to hear that my New Years resolution was to have sex with him every day. What guy wouldn’t want to hear those words? :-)

That late night when we were just too tired? We actually debated whether we’d break our commitment if skipped it and, instead, had sex twice the next day. Then, we had a really good laugh about the silliness of it all and went back to our love life as usual (which already was, and still remains, quite spectacular).

Sex by the clock? Even when you’re trying for a baby it becomes a kind of chore. Takes away the spontaneity. “Oh shoot, I can’t go shopping with you.. Joe and I haven’t had sex yet today and he has to work tonight. Maybe next week, if I can plan ahead.”

Nope, but I wish I could almost every night. Health problems fucked my sex life (pun intended) and I miss having sex as an almost daily thing. Having said that, I can’t imagine making a committment like that even if I could do it all the time.

Frequent is very, very good. Pressure to do it when you aren’t in the mood is just the opposite.

That seems like it would be a tough commitment to uphold. I am wondering what the purpose of such a commitment would be, considering that it would be rough with people’s work schedules, sleep schedules, stuff like that.

They say it’s good for hear health. I need to get in shape. I’d try that over INSANITY, or anything like that…
