End of the year (2013) lists. What's your favorite?

Asked by serenityNOW (3643points) December 1st, 2013

So, I just realized it was Dec. 1st. D’oh! So, it’s that time of year again: top-ten list mania! My favorite(s) are the top-ten album lists that all the djays do on WFUV (Fordham University) out here on the eastern seaboard. But there are so many lists. Books/movies are some of the obvious ones, but which are your favorites?

– The Wolf among us, Episode 1
(games I have played, sorted by release date)

Pacific Rim seen it in 3D thought it was great movie for its type. Didn’t watch much of anything else, least nothing that I thought was worth really seeing again.

The next Hobbit month is coming out this month I believe? Likely to be added.

Metro Last Light
State of Decay
Payday 2

@ragingloli I’m shocked you were able to find Deadpool enjoyable. That game was insufferable IMO. Bugged to hell and back.

2013 has been a pretty crappy year for me overall. The only plus is that I finally found a job I like, that treats me well, and pays me a decent wage.

I don’t watch recent movies(hollywood bores me)or listen to recent music so I can’t give a top 10 for those categories.

TV is what I watch. I’ll give a Top 3

Breaking Bad
Arrested Development
Game of Thrones

The only thing I consumed enough of this year to make a top ten list of was books. The few I read published this year didn’t break the ten, well nine. I couldn’t pick a tenth. Maybe I’ll read it this month.

These are all outstanding in my opinion.

The Once and Future King – T. H. White (1958)
The Gulag Archipeligo I-II – Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (1973)
Obedience to Authority – Stanley Milgram (1974)
After the Fact: The Art of Historical Detection – James West Davidson (2000 edition)
The House of Leaves – Mark Danielewski (2000)
The Holocaust Industry – Norman G. Finkelstein (2003)
The Ghost Map – Steven Johnson (2006)
John Dies at the End – David Wong (2007)
Prophet, Vol. 1: Remission – Brandon Graham (2012)

Good films I “saw” in 2013

Django Unchained Fantastic

12 Years A Slave One of those films that hurts but you’re so glad you saw it.

Oz the Great and Powerful in 3D

Captain Phillips

Gravity

Carnage (spectacular but was probably last year’s film)

The Impossible (I saw this before it was released and I thought it was excellent)

The Sessions Good Film – the only thing he had going for him was personality and wit and it taught a woman what love means. Thought provoking film.

Probably more but I’m bad at remembering films off the top of my head.

As for movies, this is the time of year the good ones come out, so I will not post a favorites list until New Years.
